Symbols of peace

  1. Hi Wairaka,

It’s Leslie here, writing to you from Canada where it’s very cold and snowy. Hard for you to imagine, I’m sure! I’m a member of the Summer Learning Journey team and I notice that you've created a lovely collection of posters about peace. Well done!

I think you might really have fun doing some of the activities in the Summer Learning Journey because they're very creative too. You can create a poster or picture, write a story or poem, and write about your favourite activities. You can also learn about the unusual and unique animals and plants that live in your beautiful country and in other countries of the world. So cool!! Many of your classmates are participating so you could share your blog with them - fun!

There are still 3 full weeks left to participate in the Summer Learning Journey program called “The World Around Us”. Here’s the website address: www.summerlearningjourney.co.nz I hope you’ll take a look and try some of the activities. I’ll look for your postings and write back to you from Canada.

Meanwhile, have a really happy summer holiday.

    Leslie

  3. Hi Wairaka,

Thank you for your note! I'm glad that you'll consider participating in the Summer Learning Journey next time it's offered. Good on you!

If you like snow, you'd love love love being in Ontario, Canada this year because we've had deep snow on the ground since late October and, though it's supposed to be spring time here, we had a snow storm again just last night. This is the very longest winter we've ever had!!! I'm still wearing snow pants out to walk my dog - I can't believe it!!

That being said, I actually really love winter and I love living in Canada. We have some beautiful wilderness spaces and I live in an area where it's easy to find a lake to paddle on and forests to walk through. Some parts of my province are very crowded with people - not my favourite environment in which to be...

Hot chocolate rules though, as you say. It makes a cold day even better. But I can't drink too much of it as it's very rich.

I hope you're enjoying your new school year, your class and your friends. Thanks for writing to me.

    Cheers,

    Leslie
